Optional Lobby Day

California Bicycle Summit Lobby Day – Wednesday, April 22, 2026

Registration for Lobby Day is Closed

Join CalBike at the Capitol

Join CalBike and advocates from across California for Lobby Day at the State Capitol. On Wednesday, April 22, we’ll come together to speak directly with legislators about what it will take to create a future full of bicycles, safer streets, connected communities, and transportation choices that work for everyone. Lobby Day is a free optional add-on for attendees of the California Bicycle Summit.

Lobby Day is a powerful opportunity to bring your lived experience into the halls of power. You do not need to be a policy expert. CalBike will prepare you fully and organize every meeting in advance.

What to Expect

  • Lobby Day is designed to be accessible, well-supported, and impactful.
  • Advance Preparation
  • All Lobby Day participants will take part in a required introductory Zoom training in early April (exact date and time to be announced). This short session will cover:
  • The key policy issues we’ll be discussing
  • What to expect in legislative meetings
  • How to tell your story effectively and confidently

Schedule

  • 11:00AM-12:00PM – Welcome Session for Optional Lobby Day
  • 12:00PM-2:00PM – Lobby Day Participants: Small Group Meetings / Lunch Break / Travel to Capitol
  • 2:00PM-5:00PM – Lobby Day Meetings @ California Capitol

Why Participate?

Lobby Day is where advocacy becomes real. Legislators consistently tell us that hearing directly from constituents parents, commuters, seniors, people who bike, and people who want safer streets makes a difference.

CalBike will handle the logistics. We’ll schedule the meetings, provide the materials, and guide you every step of the way. What you bring is your experience and your belief in a better transportation future.

Lobby Day is free for Summit attendees, and we would love to have you with us as we bring the vision of a future full of bicycles into the Capitol.

Essential Information for Walking & Biking Tours

Throughout the 2026 Summit program, we will offer mobile biking and walking sessions to visit local infrastructure projects around Sacramento. These sessions will happen during the regular program, but are typically longer, and occupy the space of 2 or 3 session blocks.

We will provide 20 loaner bikes and scooters for use during these tours. If you are local to Sacramento and would like to participate, please try to use your own bicycle to allow our out-of-town Summit attendees the opportunity to join.

Our loaner fleet for 2026 will include eight classic analog bikes, two electric bikes, and 10 electric scooters provided by Lime. Helmets will be provided.

We will offer loaner vehicles on a first-come, first-served basis using a simple ticket system. A line will open in the main lobby of the Library Galleria 15 minutes before the posted start time of the tour, and we will distribute raffle tickets to the first 20 people in line. You will then walk to our staging area near the bike valet to redeem your tour vehicle.

Specific tour times and additional information will be announced soon.
