The Complete Streets for Active Living Bill, SB 127, will make the local streets that Caltrans controls safer for biking and walking. Our statewide poll found that Californians across the state and across all major political and demographic groups support building Complete Streets—roads with safe sidewalks, visible crosswalks, and protected bike lanes—that are safe places for everyone and not strictly thoroughfares for driving. We are very close to victory. Your support is the key to getting this bill signed into law.
A new bicycle awareness California license plate will raise money to support bicycle programs. The cost for this special plate is $50 – $98 the first year and $35 – $73 for renewals. We need 7,500 pre-orders before DMV will launch this plate. When you join the waitlist for this special license plate, you help us reach the 7,500 minimum.
The California Bicycle Coalition is asking the California Air Resources Board to expand their incentive programs to include the cleanest vehicle of all: the bicycle. The ARB funds the Clean Vehicle Rebate Program and similar state programs to help people replace high-polluting cars with electric cars to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but they don’t have any programs to encourage bicycle riding. CalBike proposes to change that with a $10 million Bicycle Purchase Incentive Pilot Program.
