Advocacy Day
Every year, we invite bicycle advocates from across the state to come together in Sacramento for Bike Advocacy Day. In 2016, Advocacy Day was incorporated in conjunction with with a “Transportation Equity Summit” in coordination with TransForm. The summit provides training and networking and knowledge sharing on key transportation equity issues. Who benefits from our transportation investments? Who is negatively affected? What can we do to provide high quality transportation to everyone in California, especially low-income people?
Advocacy Day features face-to-face meetings with legislators where we lobby for policy changes we talked about the day before including more funding for bicycle networks, and better laws and policies to enable more Californians to bicycle. We also usually hold a reception with special guest speakers. Attendees include local coalition staff, board members, and supporters; bicycle club members; and others passionate about improving bicycling and transportation policies.
