Contractor Opportunity with the Motherlode Bicycle Coalition
The Motherlode Bicycle Coalition (MLBC), a project of the California Mobility Fund, seeks an independent contractor to complete specific, time-limited projects in support of regional bicycle infrastructure, economic development, and tourism. This contract position is supported by a grant from the Sierra Jobs First program.
About the Role
- Contract Term: September 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026
- Location: Remote, with travel for meetings and fieldwork in the Central Sierra (Alpine, Calaveras, Tuolumne, and Amador Counties)
As the MLBC contractor, you’ll complete several projects that strengthen the region’s bicycle infrastructure and economy.
Key Responsibilities
- Grant Writing: Research funding opportunities and submit 3–5 competitive grant applications.
- Project Development: Advance key “Signature Projects” from the Bike Valley to Sierra Report, including feasibility studies and stakeholder coordination.
- Economic Development Planning: Translate research into an actionable strategy to grow bicycle tourism as a regional economic driver.
- Event Facilitation: Organize a Central Sierra Bicycle Recreation and Tourism Roundtable to convene local partners, foster collaboration, and accelerate implementation.
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of experience in outdoor recreation, trail or infrastructure planning, or sustainable land management
- Experience with transportation planning or public infrastructure projects is highly desirable
- Excellent communication, project management, and community engagement skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Environmental Science, Planning, Public Relations, etc.); Master’s a plus
- Familiarity with Central Sierra communities and ability to attend in-person meetings as needed
