We regularly need volunteers in the Bay Area or in Sacramento, and also have some positions for volunteers working remotely. Our local partners have volunteer opportunities as well.

Job Description:Development Assistant, Part-time

California Bicycle Coalition (Oakland) 

The California Bicycle Coalition is seeking a well-organized, self-starting Development Assistant for 20 hours/week. Pay is $20/hour DOE. This position is temporary, through Dec 31, with the possibility of continuing as budget allows.

This position is ideally based at our headquarters in Jack London Square, though it could potentially be done remotely, and will report to the Development Director. This position would provide an opportunity to contribute to a vital organization and to build development, communications, membership, and list-building skills in a fun and collaborative work environment. 

About the California Bicycle Coalition (CalBike)

The California Bicycle Coalition is California’s state-level bicycling advocacy organization, working to enable more people to ride bicycles for healthier, safer, and more prosperous communities for all. CalBike partners with 16 professionally-staffed local bicycle advocacy organizations across the state.  We will have six full-time staff: four in Oakland at an office shared with Bike East Bay, and two in Sacramento.

Job Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

Development Assistance

Database management and list-making using Nationbuilder
Researching funding opportunities
Assisting with fundraising mailings
Calling donors and sponsors
Other miscellaneous fundraising tasks

Communications Assistance

Website maintenance and updates - support on various projects to bring website content up-to-date, transfer pages, etc.
Organizing and cataloguing CalBike videos and photos into an easily managed and accessible system
Assisting with mailings
Other miscellaneous communications tasks

Skills

Knowledge of Nationbuilder strongly preferred
Tech-savvy, particularly with social media platforms
Good writer, preferably
Fast learner
Self-starter
Works well independently as well as collaboratively
Great verbal communicator
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive
Design experience preferred (proficiency in Adobe Suite, or experience with other design tools like Canva)
