Councils

As part of our mission to expand the political power of California’s bike-riding coalition, CalBike operates several councils that bring together partners, advocates, and experts to guide our statewide work. Each council plays a unique role in shaping the policies, partnerships, and perspectives that advance CalBike’s vision.

California Independent Electric Mobility Council

The California Independent Electric Mobility Council is established through the California Mobility Fund as the state’s first working group dedicated to understanding and improving the landscape for personal electric mobility devices from e-bikes to e-scooters and other emerging technologies.

This statewide council will:

  • Convene a diverse set of stakeholders representing transportation, safety, and environmental interests.
  • Study the challenges and opportunities related to the adoption and safe integration of electric mobility devices.
  • Develop policy recommendations, updated guidance, and public education resources.
  • Lead a statewide communications effort to dispel misconceptions, share safety practices, and educate all road users

The California Electric Mobility Council will meet five times, culminating in a report anticipated in May 2025 which will outline recommendations on policy as well as education initiatives.

Policy Advisory Council (PAC)

CalBike’s Policy Advisory Council (PAC) is composed of leaders from local and regional bike coalitions representing riders across California. The PAC serves as a vital network for sharing strategies, surfacing emerging issues, and strengthening our collective advocacy.

Through regular collaboration, PAC members:

  • Exchange insights on effective local campaigns and policies.
  • Identify statewide trends and priorities.
  • Strengthen CalBike’s understanding of on-the-ground realities.

The PAC is an essential bridge between local organizations and statewide policy, ensuring that local experiences inform CalBike’s legislative and programmatic work. For information on joining, email Policy Director, Jared Sanchez.

CalBike Advisory Council

The CalBike Advisory Council is a select group of dedicated supporters whose insights help shape our organizational priorities. Members provide valuable feedback that informs our advocacy direction, while final decisions are made based on feasibility and coalition alignment.

Advisory Council members receive:

  • Exclusive access to CalBike events and policy briefings.
  • Discounted tickets to the California Bicycle Summit.
  • Annual recognition in the CalBike Donor Newsletter for their generous support.

Their participation strengthens CalBike’s ability to lead with accountability, transparency, and shared purpose. Learn more about joining the CalBike Advisory Council.
