It’s the most fun you’ll have promoting better bicycling all year!

Join me and dozens of other cyclists and bike advocates on California by Bike’s 2014 Tour: Surf n Turf. The 5-day fully-supported adventure starts with a party in Santa Barbara Friday night October 31 and ends in San Diego Nov. 5 at the beginning of the National Bicycle Tourism Conference.

Every last penny of the net proceeds benefits the California Bicycle Coalition’s work to enable more people to bicycle for the health, safety, and prosperity of all Californians. We are working to make riding a bike better, whether it’s a five day vacation tour or a five mile commute to work or a five minute jaunt to the grocery store. The registration deadline is approaching so sign up now.

The California Bicycle Coalition is working with the Bicycle Tourism Conference so that California’s tourism bureau will learn to appreciate the incredible value that bicycle tourists can bring to a community. The Pacific Coast Highway is already one of the country’s most popular bike routes but it does not have a reputation as one of the safest. Imagine if the dangerous spots were fixed, with separate coastside paths, bike lanes, or wide shoulders where narrow fast lanes currently exist? Thousands of tourists could bring millions of dollars every year to coastal communities. Some of which are struggling to survive in today’s economy. This ride, and all the California by Bike Tours in the future can be essential catalysts to boost those small California towns’ economies.

CAR8You will tour southern California’s beautiful coastline with fantastic new friends. You will enjoy great accommodations and food and connections with fellow bicyclists committed to bettering every Californian’s cycling experience.

Our unique position as leaders of California’s bike movement will give us special access to community leaders and superstars in the bike world whom you’ll get to meet. Proceeds benefit the Better Bikeways campaign, advocating for more funding and improved design for bikeways in California, and the Give Me 3 campaign, created to promote awareness of the Three Feet for Safety Act going into effect in September 2014.

Lodging, full rest stops, most meals, SAG and mechanic support, jersey, and entertainment included in the tour price of $2,150. You can fundraise to support your ride which we’ll make easy with a personal fundraising page, or register with the full price and reserve your spot outright. Registration fees are $100.00.

The California by Bike Surf ’N Turf Tour is your opportunity to make a difference for every person who desires to live, breathe and maintain a healthy, happy lifestyle in our state – while having a great deal of fun. Sign up today at calbike.org/surfnturf/registration
