Take Action! Tell the OPR to prioritize bike safety over automobile traffic.

The Office of Planning & Research needs to hear from you about the importance of replacing automobile congestion as a measurement of environmental impact with vehicle miles traveled. Hundreds of letters won’t help, but a few good examples will. Please download the attached letter and add your own story about how road widening or development projects have impacted the safety of your ride.

I am 76 years old and cycle as an alternative to driving as much as possible. I believe this has improved my health and look forward to the improved safety afforded by bicycle lanes and other improvements. I did have a serious injury that would not have happened if the heavily travelled road was made more friendly to cyclists. The more safe lanes available, the more popular the activity will become with widespread health and environmental benefits. The rest of the email is from the California bicycle coalition.
